The exposure triangle is a tool for associating the three variables that determine the exposure of a photograph: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Balancing all three of these is important to achieve a desired result, an adjustment of one requires adjustments of at least one of the others.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIP
RULE OF THIRDS is a type of composition in which an image is divided evenly into thirds, both horizontally and vertically, and the subject of the image is placed at the intersection of those dividing lines, or along one of the lines itself. It makes for a more interesting photograph! Try it!

Elements of Art
Students learned about the Elements of Art: color, lines, texture, shape and form in class last week . They put into practice what they learned and went to work finding subjects that demonstrated the concepts discussed in class. Photography is so much about observation and seeing the picture before you even snap. These were some of our favorites!

WEEKEND VIBES
This photo was taken in Morro Bay, CA. We were leaving an area when we saw this dog and his owner drive in. This photo is good example of rules of thirds and proper composition. This dog had so much personality and he stole the show but those flames are fun too. Enjoy your weekend!
TIPS: LEARNING FROM HOME
SET YOUR SPACE:
Find an area in your house where you can sit comfortably and focus. Make it separate to your relaxation space. Ideally away from a TV screen or other distractions.
TAKE NOTES:
You have a zoom lesson? Note-taking keeps your mind engaged. Use colorful markers to write notes and keep you on track.
PLAN YOUR DAY:
If you have one, follow the schedule provided by your school.
If you just have a list of things to study, break it down into tasks and plan to do the hardest ones when you have the most energy.
Use a check off list or student planner to plan your week.
LESSEN DISTRACTIONS:
Choose a spot to work from that is quiet and gets less traction. Lock your phone away if you need to. Focus on one task at a time.
CHANGE IT UP:
You probably have a schedule for your lessons, but if things are becoming difficult to focus on, take a 5-min break and come back to it.
TAKE BREAKS:
Get up once in a while. Have a snack.
ASK FOR HELP:
When things get tough, ask your parents, or reach out to your teacher.
Dear Families and Students....
Hello, friends,
This past school year 2019-2020 has been incredible! We’ve worked with a wonderful group of students. All who walked away with some hands on experience and greater knowledge of the art of photography. We adjusted to the changes of shelter in place and are currently offering online classes. Thank you to all our families who enrolled in lessons this school year. We are grateful for our students.
Although not certain how things will look in the future with shelter in place , we continue on with our planning for the summer and Fall 2020 school year. We look forward to rolling out our summer and Fall school options and having a new group of students to teach. Next school year we will be adding an online course option and showcasing student work on our mini blog. Please inquire in the CONTACT section this site if you are interested in lessons this summer or Fall.
Warmly,
